How to distinguish generator fault from sound
There are certain signs of diesel generator unit failure. Some signs can be heard. The staff of the generator manufacturer summarized the following rules to help you master the method of judging unit failure by sound.
At the early stage of the development of diesel generators, they were noisy and black smoke, and could only be used on agricultural machinery that needed great traction. With the development of diesel engine technology, many imported cars now have diesel engine models to choose from. The sound of the well-designed diesel engine is much more pleasant. Because it is different from the gasoline engine in structural characteristics, it is easy to judge the fault through some characteristic sounds.
(1) The diesel engine makes continuous noise regularly, usually due to the fault of rotating parts. If there is a continuous knocking sound, it often occurs in the timing gear, flywheel and other parts.
(2) The diesel engine makes irregular intermittent noise, which is usually caused by the failure of engine accessories, such as generator, starter, air compressor, water pump, etc., which are not installed firmly or are scratched internally.
(3) The diesel engine makes an abnormal noise once after one revolution. Generally, the parts related to the crankshaft, such as piston, piston pin, piston ring and connecting rod bearing, are faulty.
(4) Abnormal noise occurs once every two revolutions of the diesel engine. Generally, the parts related to the camshaft are faulty, such as damaged valves, push rods, valve springs and timing gears.
Through the above introduction, you can have a general understanding of the sound of the unit. Once the abnormal sound of power generation occurs in daily operation, you can simply judge which part of the unit is faulty, and the maintenance work is more targeted.
