What are the classifications of automotive condensers?

2024-10-10

According to the different cooling media, automotive condensers can be divided into four categories, and their functions are as follows:

1. Air-cooled condenser (also called air-cooled) : In this condenser, the heat released by the refrigerant is taken away by the air. Air can be naturally convection or forced through a fan. This type of condenser is used in freon refrigeration equipment where water supply is inconvenient or difficult.

2. Water-cooled condenser: In this condenser, the heat released by the refrigerant is taken away by the cooling water. The cooling water can be used once or recycled. Water-cooled condensers can be divided into vertical shell and tube type, horizontal shell and tube type and tube type according to their different structural types.

3. Evaporation-condensing type: In this condenser, the cooling effect of the evaporation of refrigerant in another refrigeration system is used to cool the refrigerant vapor on the other side of the heat transfer separator, which is condensed and liquefied. For example, evaporative condensers in cascade refrigerators.

4. Water-air cooled condenser: This kind of condenser can be divided into two kinds according to its different structure: evaporative type and dripping type. In this condenser, the refrigerant is cooled by both water and air at the same time, but mainly relies on the evaporation of the cooling water on the surface of the heat transfer tube, and absorbs a lot of heat from the refrigerant side as the latent heat of the vaporization of water. The main role of air is to take away water vapor and accelerate the evaporation of water. Therefore, the water consumption of this condenser is very small, and it is the preferred condenser for areas with dry air, poor water quality, low water temperature and insufficient water.
